bal joints

hi , i was under truck today checking ujoints have drive line noise , while i was checking front drive axles , i was pushing up on ujoints to check them and the spindle was going up on the bal joints . is there up and down play in the joints or are they bad , there is no play any other way only straight up and down .

hi thank you guess i will do that before putting my new tires on , should i get factory ones or is there better aftermarket ones and if so who makes them .

The factory ones seem to be weak, but they are probably the best you can find. I am going to go ahead and replace mine, as well. I will let you know if I find a better solution.

I would suggest moog replacements. They are available at quite a few parts stores. They aren't too badly priced either.

There is Moog uppers available, they are adjustable. No lowers in the aftermarket yet that I could find.

my truck has 74,000 on it so dont mind changing them , i check with autozone yesterday and moog makes upper and lowers got prize of 65 uppers 55 lowers . so next week or 2 i will be doing them .

I just called autozone and they can't find them. Also I called napa and got these: upper# 2601580 for $119.00 and lower# 2601579 for $91.49 each!! A far cry from the 65-55 you got. If they are right you are getting a good deal!! Oreillys has moog uppers #k7448 for $111.99 and specialty products uppers# 23800 for $118.99 and lowers#23830 for $118.99. If I could find them for 55-65 I would buy a couple sets and have them in the garage.
