2mic filter fuel flow direction
I've got the GDP 2mk kit on my truck and I am upgrading it to the big line kit. I ordered parts and they are on the way. My question is about the fittings and flow. Currently the inlet to the filter is facing the front of the truck, per GDP instructions. I'd like to turn the unit 180* so the inlet faces the firewall and the fuel runs directly from stock can to the 2mic filter then out and down directly to the CP3. I looked up GDPs install of their big line kit and they still arrange the inlet to the front which forces the fuel lines to criss cross the filter (and crammed against the engine block). Why do they do that?
Is there a reason doing it my way would be a problem? I know dumb question, "just turn it". But just wondering if I'm not seeing something important.
I am running 90*s for all 4 connections.

You can turn your filter head 180 if you would like to, The only reason they have you route it that way is for room. I have mine facing the same way you do but my hoses are routed on the other side away from the block.
Another thing to consider is the filter you are running, the fleet guard is only 5 micron where the CAT and DONALDSON are both superior to the fleetguard in this application.
Cat 1R0750. 2 mics absolute, single pass rated
Donaldson P5513132, 2 mics absolute, single pass rated.
Cat 1R0750. 2 mics absolute, single pass rated

Yep, I have the Cat on there now after running the supplied Fleetguard for the first 10k

I am running 90*s for all 4 connections.I've had the Glacier air horn mounted fuel filter kit for 7 years. It's a great kit, very high quality, fits nicely, easy to service the filter.
The reason for criss-crossing the fuel lines it to avoid any serious bends in the lines.
When you install it, you will see that the line from the bottom of the fuel filter cannister (output) will nicely route to the front of the fuel filter base (input).
And the rear fuel line from the rear of the fuel filter base (output) will nicely route to the input of the CP3 injection pump.
It's not critical, just run the new fuel lines with no kinks, no rubbing on anything.
Now is also a great time to install a lift pump fuel pressure gauge.
Just "T" into fuel line before the input to the CP3.
Glacier and many others sell "T" 's.
Make sure you get the input/output ports oriented correctly for the fuel filter base.

Thanks Stealth. I debated putting in the fuel port T now but I'm going to order/install it when I get the gauges. For now it is one less connection to make/keep from leaking.

I finished this up Sunday evening (Push-locks are the devil). Ran the truck on a quick test drive and no leaks. This morning looks fine as well. Will keep eyes on it like I usually do.
Ended up running the can-to-2mic filter line on the right side of the filter. Ran the filter-to-cp3 on the other side nearest the block. The 90* fitting out the bottom of the stock can changed how I could route the line because of the size of the fitting. Nothing too scary but will keep an eye on it. Will probably put a loom around the line to protect it a little bit just in case.
