2006 Laramie

In Canada I was looking at a 2006 Dodge Laramie Cummins 2500 with 180,000km. The truck looks in excellent shape the car fax is good with some hail damage repair. They want $23,900 for the truck and I am trying to decide if I should buy it. The truck is what I need to pull my fifth wheel as my old 97 chev 1/2/ton cannot do it anymore. The half ton has 355,000 km on it and is a tired old truck. I have asked the dealership if there is any movement on this price but they said no as they have just replaced the ball joints and gave it an oil change. Bearing in mind that trucks cost more in Canada what do you guys think of this deal?

Price could be OK depending on options and overall condition... is it 4x4? What's the condition of the rest of the steering components? Has it been lifted... if so check for death wobble issues. How about condition of injectors, tires, brakes, trans, what's the maintenance status? Does it come with any sort of warrantee?

With any used vehicle, it's helpful to know how the previous owner used and maintained it. Can they provide any history for you? The 2006 was a great year. If properly maintained it could be an OK deal but I'd really try to work it down another couple grand. If it was abused or wasn't maintained you could easily wind up putting several thousand dollars into it. Just injectors and a transmission is a bunch of $$$. For another $12 or $14 grand you can about buy a new 2012 base model 4x4 that will come with a warrantee.

I think the 06 and 07 were the best of the newer 5.9, I have 113k on my 06 and only replaced 2 seals so far and it has towed about 50k of those miles, $23 is a bit to much as far as I see up here, but depends on your local market, offer them less you got nothing to loose.

Well I bought the truck I was only able to get it down another $550.00 but they gave me a 5 month or 5,000km warranty. Hopefully tough wood I won`t have any problems but I bought what I could afford.
