there is a dodgezilla running these parts with an SO motor, I think I hear him in a garage somewhere installing a new turbo... he is doing well with power upgrades on it. EDIT: https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...ad.php?t=89764

Not much stuff for it as it was never nationally distributed.

305 555 was the high output from 2003 to 2004.5 when they came out with the 600 to meet the new emmissions requirements. (305/555 doesn't have the polution control junk the 6xx motors have)
the 305/555 is "supposed" to get better fuel economy than the 6xx motors but I'm not sure if I'm seeing that or not....

Actually, I believe there was only an SO and HO in 03. After that, they were all the HO 305/555 motors till the 600`s. Someone correct me if I wrong .
Ditto what MikeyB said. The SO engines are great if you want to bomb. They run cooler and get much better fuel mileage as they don't have the emissions restrictions or third injection event for the CAT. Check my signature. On the flip side, they suck if you plan to keep the truck stock as it is kind of wimpy on stock fuel/programming.

Hi George&Cheryl-
I think we met a couple of years ago in LaGrande when you were still in the market for that 'Fox of yours. Anyway, as MikeyB said, the 305/555 (HO) was NOT sold in CA due to emissions reasons. If the truck you are looking at is in or from CA, it is either an SO or an HO transplant from another state after the requisite 7,500 miles were put on it. Please look at the sticker on the side of the engine to VERIFY it is an HO truck. Other than tuning, the HO engine also has oil cooling jets for the pistons that the SO did not have. That may be interesting if you will mod the truck. The '03 to '04.5 305/555 engines also do NOT have catalytic convertors or the 3rd injection event. Those items appeared in January of '04 with the introduction of the "600".
Hope this helps. Please let us know what you find out and what you do about it.
