2003 Rebuild Getting Ready For First Start!
I have my pistons almost ready to put back in all I like is rod bearings the cylinders are honed. I do have the head off with head studs, new 60hp injectors. What precautions should I take before I get this motor sealed back up what should I recheck before I install it in the truck and get ready for the start. Also how difficult is the install I pulled it entirely by myself.
I have rebuilt several outboards new and old and a few diesel tractors so I have some basic knowledge just not nearly as much as you guys.
I have only pulled the head, valves, injectors, pistons and flywheel. Pumps and belt still all in place. Thanks!

I got the best lube I could find, what we use at the shop on outboards. I'll be sure and post a video of this one! I'm a little worried about the start as its my first one but well see what happens!

I have rebuilt several engines over the years (no diesels though) and no matter how many times I check things I still get nervous before the first start up!

ME TOO!! I've got almost $4000 in this thing of my own hard earned money I see post on here that people blow there engines up on here and try to cheat the place they bought it from out of a new motor by stripping all the aftermarket stuff off. That makes me so mad! I know that is way off topic but all the forums I find on subjects like this involve cheating the "***********" and warranty system seems like no one hardly rebuilds these third gens on their own.

Just a thought.....more of a fail safe I guess.....have the air intake accessible so that if, for some crazy reason, it tries to run away on itself you can shut the air off and kill the engine. You'll be fine if you took your time and double checked your work along the way.
I always have an old t shirt handy for that reason I had to use it last Tuesday when a 2 stroke outboard over revved on me and ran away. Luckily I got two of the Carb throats covered in time to save the engine.
