2003 no fuel in filter housing

Drove truck home, about an hour trip, last night with no problems. It was cold, in the low teens, but nothing unusual.

This morning I had to jump start the truck, and it ran for less than a minute and then cut off. During troubleshooting I noticed that the bowl did not fill up, and it sounds like the lift pump is operating. It is very quiet tho. I have a P0088 code that returned after I disconnected the positive battery terminals.

Is there anything I can check before having it towed?

Doug

Sounds like a weak lift pump. If it is mounted on fuel filter housing then it's time to replace it. P0088 you could also have a stuck fuel control actuator. Fuel rail pressure above max limit. You need to monitor fuel rail pressure and see if pressure changes with RPM. If at max pressure engine will start hammering really loud and cause damage to fuel injectors or pressure limit valve do not drive with FCA code active.

The lift pump either is not or cannot get fuel into the filter bowl, so its not running at all. I do not have the resources to monitor fuel pressure. I barely hear the lift pump running, but I don't think its pumping any fuel. Thanks for the reply.

I don't live were it gets cold enough to gel the fuel but could that be the problem? I imagine even if it is just starting to gel that it would not pump real well.
