2 micron filters

Hi all, new to this forum. I have a 2007 with the 5.9l, 148,000mi. I am experiencing continual P0148 code. Usually the code comes on while pulling a hill about 10 mi from my house. Took it to the dealer and they said the fuel was contaminated. When they checked the fuel filter bowl it had metal shavings or bits in it. So they say to pull the tank and clean it also say it prolly needs new injectors because of that. Anybody else encounter that? After cleaning should I put a 2 micron filter on, where can I get one and where would I mount it? Diesels are a new beast to me.
Thanks, Ron

It's almost as hard as saying what the best oil is!!

Your best bet is to search here and you will finds lots of info on several brands and ways of setting up an extra fuel filter set up. Lots of variables and lots of price differences.

There is not a 2 mic filkter available for the oem filter cansiter...the best you can get for that locations is the Baldwin PF7977 which is a nominal 7 mic filter. IT IS better to run multiple fuel filters allthe way down to 2 mic. GDP makes an excellent plug n play kit for mounting on the cylinder head infront of the air horn. Check them out, but first read this article--

then this thread (wow, it's up to 125 pages, but you don't have to read the whole thing cause it was started by the same guy who wrote the first article I linked to)--

http://www.cumminsforum.com/forum/3r...water-sep.html

Then get one!!

Actually the Baldwin PF7977 is 2 micron nominal, 5 micron absolute.

Thanks guys for the input. When I was looking at the site to order a GDP filter, it said something about whether you have APPS or not. What is that? I'm still learning all this diesel terminolgy. Thanks for bearing with me.
I did find a good place to order Baldwin PF7977 filters. ZORO and you can enter promo code Zmail4u and save 5 bucks

The APPS (accelerator pedal position sensor) on some earlier 3rd gen trucks was mounted in front of the air horn, thus the cylinder head mounting kit will not work on those trucks. By 2007, the apps was located elsewhere, so that will not be a problem for your truck.

my bad, you are correct, it is 5mic absolute--

also for sure it is the best possible filter to use in the stock filter canister.
