100k on '06 4x4 AUTO

I have 100k on my '06 Dodge 4x4 mega cab. It has been a fantastic truck. I have completed oil changes, ATF changes, and differential oil changes. Other than a few minor things, it has been solid. It has no oil or fuel leaks and runs great.

I am thinking that a new fan belt, and probably a good check and replacement of needed front end steering parts may be in order. Anyone have any suggestions as to what items and or maintenance needs to be done at this point? What things to check at this mileage and year on these trucks? Tie rod ends? Ball joints?

Your biggest risk is the auto transmission. It will fail and it will be expensive to repair. Worse, there is nothing you can do about it. Why people buy their trucks with them, I have no idea. Everything about this truck is heavy duty except the gearbox. They are automotive in design and perhaps acceptable for a 1.8 ton car, but frail in this truck application. There are many companies that sell upgrade kits for the gearbox and make money doing it, but they are band aids not a solution.

The front end is pretty robust and inexpensive to repair when required. My only fault has been tie rod ends. However, a common fault is the crap "U" joints. Changing then out with quality ones, with grease nipples is advisable or keep them on the shelf ready for use because failure of them is certain.

Yep, do the fan belt as well as the radiator fluid if not already done. At 100K I also replaced the water pump because I'd rather do it at my convenience!

I've got 155K miles on mine and it has been the best truck I've ever owned and not a single problem with the auto transmission!

I've got 187K on mine and no problems with the auto transmission. I did finally do the front end, and it wasn't cheap. I did the good Carli ball joints, and the 08 suspension and gear box upgrade from the dealer. My front end got pretty beat up on a trip to Alaska.
