1 piece drive line???!!
SO was it ever determined what shaft was needed for an 04.5 QC 4x4 long bed? I've read through all these threads and have yet to see which part number to order. Only long lists that have nothing to do with the actual parts needed. Frustrating!

Why don't you figure it out? Call someone. Look something up. I don't even need one and I've done a ton of legwork already.
If you'd like, I'll find the part for you, and then find the best deal available. I'll have it shipped directly to your house. I charge $80 an hour, and I accept Visa and Mastercard.
There is no drive shaft for a '04.5 QC 4x4 long bed 6spd other than the stock one. The one for the newer trucks is 2" too long, the one for the newer trucks with an automatic is an inch longer than that. I don't know if there is one for a '04.5 QC 4x4 long bed auto but if you measure your current drive shaft we can figure it out.
The new 6spd shaft is 74" long from u-joint to u-joint
the new auto shaft is 75" long from u-joint to u-joint

That is cold for NM!!!! Heck here in Wisconsin I'm at 24 degrees now, and there's 5 inches of fresh snow and it continues to fall... It looks beautiful like a snow globe outside!
Tonight though the front passes through and temps drop to 8 below zero and the winds kicks up to 20-30mph. All my beautiful snow will be nasty drifts and bitter cold will reign....

Yes it is a rare and exceptional event to have this kind of cold here in NM, more of a normal for where you are located. I lived in PA before moving here to NM, what the weather is doing here right now would be something I would have expected in PA this time of year.
I bet your thermometer will be at the 50* below zero point (or MORE) if the winds reach the 20-30 mph as expected. I suppose there is some point where it doesn't make a difference because BITTER COLD is just that, BITTER and there is no ability to perceive it being any colder.
Our overnight temp is supposed to once again be right at 14*s, but, they say we won't have the winds to create a horrible chill factor - we'll see.
I have grown very acclimated to the more normal higher winter temps here, this cold seems so much colder to me than when I lived in PA.
CD

Sorry about that. Just wanted to clarify.
14 in New Mexico? That's nuts. And what a BEAUTIFUL state you live in. Every time I travel there I swear I'll never go home. I'm so stupid to be up here when there are places as nice as the south to live...

If you'd like, I could have my neighbor cut and weld one a tad shorter for you. I'm sure it would only cost about $50 plus some shipping.
Let me get this straight.... You're waiting for us to tell you which part to order?

Lostlake with his 2006 is apparently not aware that those of us with 2003 and 2004 have different issues to deal with. You can look at all the charts in the world and they do not pertain to us. So all we are looking for is a little help. If he does not want to help so be it.
I would take you up on that but I think shipping would cost more than having it done locally. There is a place in Dallas, about 45 minutes away that will do it for $100 but they can't guarantee it'll be done in the same day so I'd have to drive out, drop it off, then drive out a few days later and pick it up. It's a pain in the *** but I might not have a choice that's cost effective.

Measure it out, then find out if the output shaft on the trans is the same as the output shaft of a transfer case and you can probably find something that works. I say probably, no guarantees.
