Fixin 2 sell my 02 and get a quad cab 06 and have a couple of questions. Will the same BHAF (NAPA 2790) fit the 06? What are the limits of the stock turbo and clutch? Whick turbo is on this motor? Anything I need to watch out for on these trucks? Like the VP44 on mine. I'm planning to put a smarty on it when they come out. Thanx.
I saw your post and couldn't with any authority answer the BHAF question. The Bosch CP3 has seen some failures. IMO it appears to be a much better unit than the VP44. Not yet on par with 12V p7100. The in tank pump appears to be doing it's job. I've seen it posted elsewhere the CP3 in other applications has no liftpump. The liftpump appears to be a requirement on the Dodge application because of the 10micron fuel filter which has now been superceded by the 7micron fuel filter. Applications without a liftpump are supposedly running a 20micron filter which has less vacuum affect.
Recently discussed on the 06' is problems swapping out the stock stereo. The stereo apparently talks with the computer through CanBus (search). Also, don't leave the key in the ignition. Some have reported dead batteries.
My 06' drives great. I miss the roar of my old 96' CTD. My 06' is very quiet which helps conversation with the wife. This leads to the biggest problem of the 06'. Having the ability to converse with the wife. My 96' sounded like a freight train under load and climbing a hill. The 96' removed the possibility of conversation with the wife.

My clutch is hanging on for dear life with my TST on anything above 2+2. I can make it slip a little in 1st at 2+2 and that's it.
The turbo is constantly pegging 35lbs with boost limited by the TST.
I'll hopefully have my new clutch in this weekend. Otherwise, it seems real strong.

I have a 04 Dmax, and a 06 Dodge cummins. I prefer the cummins with the 48re over the dmax/allison. I like everything about the dodge better, and it is the first dodge truck I have owned. I drove the new chevy with the LBZ before I bought the dodge, but it just didn't have the feel of the dodge I finally bought.
