'06 factory turbo question

I changed the oil in my truck last night and I removed the intake hose from the turbo to make it easier to change the filter. While I had it off I was checking the compressor on the turbo and noticed that it had a little side play in it. I could actually wiggle the compressor side to side by hand. I could not detect any end play and the compressor rotated freely without any binding whatsoever. It has not been contacting the housing and the truck runs great. It has not been making any questionable noise so I am wondering if this is normal. I dont remember my '01 being like this but I am not positive. I just thought I would ask in case I need to have this looked at before it grenades.

The truck is an '06 MC with auto tranny and it has a little over 46,000 miles on it. It is and has been completely stock. The only thing I have done is remove the silencer ring when I found this problem so I could see the compressor easier.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks
David

A small amount of play is normal. Don't sweat it.

Your turbo is fine. They have a bushing not a roller bearing. The shaft is centered by the oil flow running around it. A little wiggle is normal.

Cool.

Thanks guys. I hoped that it was fine and I kinda figured it might be but I just wanted to be sure.
