06 6 speed high, idle what am I doing wrong???

ok, so I am trying to enable the cruise control operated high idle on my 06 6 speed and I went to cummins and bought the connector to ground pin 22 to ground and plugged it in where everyone has said was the correct place.I then took the truck to the dealer where I "watched him" enable "high idle" yet it still doesn't work. what gives? am I plugged into the correct pin hole? (see photos below). I have tried everything and it does nothing when I try to turn it on. have I done something wrong here? is it not doable on an 06 6 speed as others have claimed? I checked to make sure I had a good ground and do. I am keeping my feet off all the pedals while trying it. any help would sure be welcome! I removed the plug to give you a better look at where the yellow wire goes into the plug.

I have two ideas:

1) Continuity on the ground wire is not present - either the pin is not connecting plug to plug or there is some other interruption. When you put the pin in the plug, did it "click" - check if you can pull it out? Put a multimeter on the pigtail to check continuity. I solder all my connections on just about everything as I don't trust butt connectors and have been burned by them before. If continuity is good, then butt connector is good.

2) Your ECM is not enabled. Tech didn't save changes or something not completed correct with scan tool.

By looking at your pics, I have a feeling #2 is your problem.

I know this sounds crazy but...... could grounding it to the ecm itself be causing some kind of craziness?

Check the complete wire for continuity like has been said already, and take the plug apart and be sure the pin is seated properly and is the same height as the others in the plug. If all that checks out good go have the dealer redo the enable. Mine has been on and working for some time now.

the pin clicked when it went in and I already checked and made sure that I had ground all the way at the inside of the plug and do. I guess I can try grounding elsewhere but that bolt goes into the block and ground is ground in my opinion. but I am in the right pin hole right? any other ideas?

You're in #22 and that's the right one. It must not have taken the enable when it was done. Go to the dealer and have them re-enable it. I think the wording is kinda weird in the Star Scan Tool. You kinda have to read it a few times to make sense. My memory is not the clearest since it was done on my truck 2.5 years ago.

And always check (later on) after you have work done at the dealer that it is still working...every time they go into the ECM, it gets reset...

ok , thats not a dumb question. there are 2 types of high idle on 04.5 on up dodge cummins trucks . there is an automatic high idle which comes on automatically at start up if the outside temp is below 30 f. there is also a manual high idle which you can control using the cruise control buttons while sitting still!. imagine being able to set your idle speed at 1500 to warm your truck and heating system up quick in the morning. imagine being able to run your truck at high idle while sleeping in a truck stop to keep the cab warm without carboning up your combustion chambers because engine temps dropped to low at the factory idle. imagine not having to have a foot on the gas pedal to keep the revs up while jump starting someone else. or how about a high idle to keep your air conditioner cool while parked at that same truck stop in the summer. its a great feature and I finally got mine turned on today! took my truck to a different dealer where the the service tech "actually knew "what he was doing and he had no problems tuning it right on for me free of charge! perfect timing as I am heading out on an 800mile drive tomorrow up through the snow in idaho and montana.
and by the way NCYZ1v, you have the same exact truck as mine , even the same color.
mines a 06 quadcab 4x4 dually 6 speed in white. mine has the manual 4x4 shifter on the hump and khaki interior, power pedals, you?

very close.. No power pedals

Did you put the 19.5's on your truck too?
what a difference that made... to the looks, the ride and the millage...not all good but 2 out of 3 aint bad...

SuperS - - did you get it to work? That's exactly how I did mine, works great. love it on cold mornings. I did not go get mine enabled and it worked right away. Maybe because of Smarty? Oh, just read where you got it enabled. Cool thing to have hugh?

I'd say that the tech screwed up.Take it back to the dealer and make them test it after activation. I think I remember reading that it is worded backwards in the Star Scan,
