05 slipping problems
05 slipping problems
I have an 05 3500 DRW with roughly 53000 miles on it now, and as of today, there is a noticable slip, not sure if it is the tranny (auto) or rear end. Anyhow, it only slips in first on take off with moderate throttle- light throttle is no problem. I have just started towing with the truck on a regular basis in the past month or so, and have also noticed the hunt for second and third gear to be increasing. The edge system I had on it has been off for over a year now, and it was always run on level one except for maybe 6 times on five just to see what it was like, but other than that the edge was only used for maybe 7k miles (for sell by the way). There havent been any codes either.
Anyway, just posting ... anyone else have anything near the same happen ????

well it is not slipping if it is only in first gear cause the the TC is operating as a fluid coupling and is not in lockup. if you are feeling a shutter during the take off from a light then it is most likely the TC going up. if you are noticing that you are having to run higher RPMs to pull away then it sounds like the TC is going up. i would doubt that the rear is going out since it is not a clutch limited slip differential in the rear. i would say your best bet is to swap out your TC and the VB this will improve the way it drives. also you can watch your RPMs as you are driving note how much the RPMs drop while you shift from one gear to another and when it goes into over drive.
sounds like the TC is shot. if the tranny fluid is a redish brown or brown then it is burnt and you can tell by the smell as well if the tranny fluid is burnt. i would say a TC and VB would be a good mod to do especially if you are going to continue to tow. a tranny cooler and double deep pan might be a good ideal as well.
Well, oddly enough I have found the problem ... my alarm w/ remote start has a short somewhere that is causing the problem.
But I am definately going to be looking into another TC and VB !!!!
Thanks anyhow
