Re:How to stop slipping transmission?

Have you done a full tranny service, changed fluid, filter and adjusted bands?

Re:How to stop slipping transmission?

I had a full tranny service done when they replaced my leaking cooler lines about 11,000 miles ago.

Reduce the power. You could try maybe increasing the line pressure on it. Call Bill K. at DTT and ask him. If it were me, I'd start saving for a new tranny.

Check your fluid *again*!

Sometimes after a fluid change, what looks right is actually a quart short. Top it off, see if it works better.

You could also drop the pan and adjust the bands. You will lose some fluid, but that will also give you a chance to see what the old fluid looks & smells like and check the pan for sediment. If the fluid is dirty or burned, get a new filter and drain out as much as possible. Fresh fluid and a band adjustment might buy you more-than-a-little-bit of time.

With the +4 ATF, it is hard to tell that it is worn. Some of these trans have a short life span because of the sloppy tolerances they are constructed with- They leak internally. If you do not pull a lot, it is doubtful your bands need adjusting to that extreme. If you do the bands, make sure you have a very accuratetorque wrench in inch/pounds. Call Bill K. if any questions.

Mike
