04.5 tranny problems

When coming to a stop the transmission downshifts and almost feels like you hit something and makes a clunking sound. And when i'm just driving and the truck shifts into overdrive, the transmission delays and shifts hard into over drive. Took it to dealer and they said no problems.

Is this normal? or could it be the limited slip?

The 50MPH shift is normal.

I don't remember feeling the truck downshift when slowing. Are you manually downshifting? If not, I'd say that is not normal.

The limited slip differential has nothing to do with the tranny shift pattern.

Drive with window open and see if you can get that clucnking noise to repeat itself be tapping gas and letting off. If you can may be a U-Joint. Father in laws truck had a U-Joint go and it sounded like something was making contact on the bottom of the truck or sounded like something was eally loose.

Might be the clutch engaging in the tranny and if your in tow/haul the truck will change gears as you slow down

I am not in tow mode when this happens and it doesnt do it all the time. It seems to only do it when its been running awhile. The truck only has 8000 miles on it. When I took it to the dealer they only drove it 2 miles. Talked to the salesman he said "run it till it goes out and they will give you a new one". My luck I'll be 500 miles for home pulling my 5th wheel with the wife and kids. I once had a limited slip got out on me and jerked when I went around turns. Feels the same without the turn. Im going to hook to the camper this weekend and put it to the test, but I'll be headed towards the dealer during normal hours. wish me luck. Just got my f-650 service truck back for the allison dealer today, Ford cant do anything right with that tranny wiring. Third time same problem.

I basically had the same trouble in my truck, real hard down shift when coming to a stop. Took it to the dealer, the throttle cable was out of adjustment by 1/4" and the locking tab was not seated. They adjusted it and it hasn't given me any problem since.

Mine does this also. It seems to do it more now when I'm taking off or rolling at about 5-10mph and give it a little fuel.
