03/04 Wastegate

Is the waste gate on the 03/04's adjustable or is it "crimped" at the factory to freeze the factory setting? I thought I had seen something on this but I can't find the thread! It looks like it is crimped or dimpled in place to prevent adjustment. Factory service manual states 24 to 27 lbs normal and my '03 only hits 18 to 19 lbs under steady full load, not counting spikes. I would like to step it up for some baselines before I swap to a larger turbo.

I used 2 washers 1/8" thick on the wastegate, shimmed it up, got 3 more psi of boost

just take the wastegate off and put the 2 washers between the wastgate and turbo. this is like adjusting the rod 1/8"

Then maybe you have the answer to my question. Is the eyelet crimped to the rod to lock the factory setting? Why did you shim instead of just adjusting the rod?

The rod was fixed non adjustable. shimming adjusted the rod 1/8" which in turn held the pressure longer creating higher boost . Hope this helps.

Hate to be a pain but I'm living on the road and don't have access to a dry area right now. Do you remember how it was fixed in place?

The rod that goes into the waste gate is factory crimped. all you are doing is moving the actuator forward the thickness of the washers. between the turbo and the wastegate actuator

Thanks! Now if I could just find an easy way to fuel and turbo it without losing my Jacobs I'd be super happy!
