What gears do you have? Look for a sticker in your glove box. You probably 4.10 which would account for part of it. The other part is probably attached to the bottom of your right leg.

it has 3:73's in it...now my 03- 6-speed i had had 4:10's and it was awful...i couldnt go over 85mph on the highway it seemed, cause the rpms were so high...i hated that about it...and i baby my truck most of the time..i even took my big fueler off, and just run the quad milege module now...and still no help....iam even considering some milege helping injectors...

Concur with driving style having a large impact on fuel mileage. I am not saying you've got a lead foot, I'm just sayin'....

My 6 speed, 4.10 geared 4x4 has averaged 17.4 mpg over 59,000 miles. I do get around 13 pulling my 9000 lb boat. Again, I've got a stick, so its apples and oranges to you. FWIW, because traffic drives so fast around here on the highway, my highway mileage w/ 4.10's isn't much better than high 17's low 18's.

The tranny could be sucking up more the hp than other tranny's and contributing to lower mpg.

edit: it took me about 25 minutes to hit the send button, and now I see that you had awful mileage on your old 6-speed. You may want to practice energy conservation in your driving style - you don't have to win every redlight holeshot; and its easier on your brakes too.

My '03 got 12-14 in town. I live in a congested area. When I would spend town in more rural areas, "in-town" driving netted me more like 16 or 17.

I could get up to 20-21 on the highway if I drove nice (rarely happened).

This was with a 305/555, NV5600, 3.73's and 35's.

All I know is that my '03 got a solid 2-3mpg better across the board than my '07. The best tank yet has only been 16.1mpg. Average is 12mpg... Almost EVERY TANK.

I better get a Smarty soon!

I have a lifetime average of 18.8 MPG for 66K+ miles

Best has been 23 MPG repeatedly in rural driving. Typical is 20 unless I'm towing a 10K# 5er when I get 13.5 at 68 MPH on the interstate.

This is a 3.73 rear end and six speed 03HO - totally stock
