**Charging system Disabled and code set**
I searched the forums briefly.
If you are out lake side relaxing with the radio on for a few hours and run your batteries down and are able to start the truck but you notice the check Gauge's light on and the battery voltage below 12 volts and not being charged by the alternator.
I own a automotive and light truck repair shop here in Los Angeles and until I got my first dodge truck in 06 have never experienced this problem.
The PCM typically controls the alt. output on dodge/Chrysler vehicles and in this case if the battery voltage is to low the system wont enable the alternator to charge the system back up until you get the batteries charged back up above 12 volts.
So my question is has some one fugued a way to "turn the alt. on" when batt voltage is low? I have hooked the field lead directly to the battery in a pinch but this will cause a high charging voltage if you leave it to long when the system comes back on line. 16+ volts...
