have someone rock the steering wheel while you watch the steering components, pay close attention to the track bar, inspect parts before replacing them

Mine makes a pop like you describe and I'm certain it's the trackbar.
Just have to get around to trading it in for a new one. Napa lifetime warranty.

Have someone turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the driver's side end of the bar.
You can see it though the wheelwell.
If you see any slop in the joint at all it's bad.

Mine used to pop like you decribe when I made right turns. It did it right after I changed the trackbar for a couple weeks. Never did it again so I guess it fixed itself. Worn trackbars will make that pop though.

NAPA trac bars no longer carry a lifetime warranty according to other posts on this site.
