Where to get 7 Pin Trailer Socket?

My 99 has a 7 pin trailer socket as part of the factory tow package. my 96 is a 5 or 6 pin as part of the factory tow package. I want to get another 7 pin like my 99 has. They both have a connection under the truck where they plug into the harness, so I am hoping I can buy just the pigtail to connect to the 96's harness. Does anyone know where this can be had, or is it a dealer-only item?

Thanks,
Chris

None of those 7-pin sockets have the connector on the other end to connect to the Ram wiring harness. It's a square or rectangular connector up near the frame. It might be a dealer-only item. I'll have to check and see if there is a part number on the one on my 99.

Thanks,
Chris

I had to replace the one on my truck , went to the dealer and if I rember right it was around $15.00. so I got 2 of them keeping the spare in the truck, and they had tons of them in stock,

Do me a favor and post the PN when you get it. I have the 7pin, and unfortunately i broke it when i hit a rock (smashed the whole thing in) and the incompetant morons at the local dealership "can't find it in the computer", but of course the flap is what has the PN, and i no longer have that.....

Upon closer examination, I found that while the 99 has one connector for the entire 7-pin socket, the 96 has 2 connectors, one with 4 pins and a separate one with 2. As I found the wires corroded into the back of the 96's socket, I will need to repair this anyway, and will install a 7 pin, but probably will have to wire it myself instead of having a direct plug-in. All hope is not lost. I will contact my Dodge parts connection and see if there is an alternative.

Tenmile, the PN off my 99's 7-pin socket is Chrysler: 56038366AB. This was found on the lid for the socket.

Try Pep Boys, Kragen/Schucks in there towing section. I think the plug-in harness is available and it made by "Hoppy."

I thought they would be pretty pricey, but while I was picking up my LP (go figure) I saw them at my local cummis dealer for $8.95.
