Where to get 1 1/8" socket?
Where to get 1 1/8" socket?
Got my new fuel filters and now I see I need a 1 1/8" or 29mm socket in 3/8 in drive. Where in the heck do I find one? Snap on online shows it only in 1/2 in drive and $25. I see one on Ebay in 3/8 in for $10 but don't want to wait. So what are you guys doing?

Try here. I use a combination wrench. Works fine.

Got mine from sears(was in the area) $8.
Saw one on home depots site for $5-6(dont know if they have it in the store though, its hit or miss alot of times)
But sears carries alot of larger sockets/wrenches in stock, even thought theyre cutting back now....

I wrench everyday with craftsman I love their tools. I also love Snap on and Mac but their stuff is not always worth the extra dough. IMO
I also wont buy ANY other impact sockets unless they are harbor freight.
I been using mine for 9 years now on heavy trucks and equipment and NEVER broke one of my $19.00 dollar impact sockets and that's $19 for the whole set.but always buy name brand ratchets I like snap-on and Mac.

I have had two different Cummins trucks at work (one an '04 and the other an '05) plug up fuel filters on the highway and both times I changed the fuel filter on the side of the road with a set of Channelock pliers. Just be careful and you wont booger up that cheap plastic cap.
I used a crescent wrench and it worked great. And BTW after changing the filter I went for a ride and it seemed like the power was back like when it was new, made a big difference and the old filter was black and nasty looking.
I third the crescent wrench. If I bought a 1 1/8" socket I'd probably use it once then lose it! If they're gonna make the nut portion that big they might as well make it a tad larger with finger grips so you can do it by hand!
