Exclamation WARNING!!! don't use socket to get bearing hub out w/ABS on front brakes

well I messed up enough to cost me an extra $300 on top of the $600 Ive spent so far. I didn't feel like banging on the bolts I thought it would take to long, my mistake, so I took the advice of some posts on here that said just put a socket in between the knuckle and the hub when turned all the way with the wheel then turn truck on and turn wheel well it doesn't work well if you have ABS in the front which is a rare option usually just rear ABS. well I broke the ABS ring and you can only buy them from DC and they press them onto the knuckle shaft so I tried to get it fixed but its cheap alloy and has to be balanced and perfect so no go then I tried junk yards after found no after markets nothing in juck yards anywhere near here thats 2500 4x4 with 4 wheel ABS. So I had to order the shaft with the ABS ring and part of the knuckle but I'll have to have it put onto the other shaft and its $290. just got done with the clutch and fifth gear nut so whats another $1000 I cant spend on mods

This is most likely one of my posts. It's advice I got from another member. Jasonst, I'm sorry that it cost you $300. As far as me "making it right" by paying for it, sorry again but that ain't going to happen. Just like if I took someone else's advice on this forum and screwed something up. I wouldn't be expecting them to pay for it either.

berner, this advice has been around for quite some time, you can hardly be blamed.
I've never had to resort to the socket method, sure am glad now since I've removed plenty or 4 wheel abs rotors.

I would never expect or even ask for payment, the damage is nothing but my own doing and I understand the concept of using advice at my own risk. Dojman
is the one who posted about getting bomb money , I'm sure meant as a joke .
I just posted the info so no one else would make the same mistake I did. besides even at $300 I have made up for it in fuel costs and fun over my old 1/2 ton gasser. Thanks EVERYONE for all the advice I have received over the short time I have known about this place. I come here everyday and love it and if anyone feels the need to compensate please give a donation to this site.
God Bless All

No harm done, jaconst. It's sometimes hard to tell if somebody's joking or serious on these forums.

I havent been on in a while. Yes,I was just screwin around, sort of. I do have a problem with someone telling me(or anyone else who obviously knows no better) "Yep, that's how you do it. Seen it done, done it myself, know it's right, etc." blah, blah, blah You know the typical know it all, who dont know squat. But, on a board of this caliber, or was it caliper(?), anyhow somebody who DOES know, normally steps up and sets things straight.

Apparently, this method will work with 4WAL brakes. It all depends where you stick the socket. Check TGCTD's post in this thread. https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=44131
