Wheel spacer?
Wheel spacer?
My '97 2500 CDT QC 4x4 has a 3.5mm wheel spacer (I guess that's what it is - metal ring over the lug bolts between hub and wheel) on the passenger side, but none on the driver side. Should there be one on each side? Maybe related, maybe not, but the drivers front wheel was stuck on the hub hard enough that it took a pretty hard kick on the tire to knock the wheel loose from the hub. So, did the previous owner loose the ring on the drivers side? Probably went the same place as the missing jack and lug wrench! :-(
Greg

oooops

I had seen one on my passenger side too and I just took it off.

It's been off for a while now and I've had some problems with pulling but it seems fine now. I think I'll put it back on and get the breaks re-adjusted anyway to be safe.
Re:Wheel spacer?
The Spacer is Dodge's sorry excuse to fix brake-pull.

The real fix is an EGR brake kit, or rebuilding and greasing the Calipers, but that takes shop time and money, a spacer only takes 5 mintes to do, and can be done outside the shop. (Jack and lug nut wrench)

It's not needed, only adds stress to the wheel bearings/ball joints etc. If my truck had brake pull, I'd work on the brakes and get it right, not add shims to compensate.

Merrick Cummings Jr
