Stock wheel spacer

I was doing brakes on my truck today and noticed a 3.5mm spacer behind the right wheel. It was held on by clips so Im assuming it was there from the factory. There is not one on the left side. Has the one on the left side been lost? Can I take the right one off or should I find one for the left side. Truck is a 99 2500 with the stock chrome steel wheels.

Thanks in advance

The shim was a "FIX" for the pulling to one side problem Dodge had when the 2nd Genners first came out.
I'd put it back where it was and not worry about it.

This would explain alot of my braking problems nobody has been able to fix. I don't have a spacer in mine.

Not all trucks come with the fix and there are three different thickness that can be on either the left or right side.
Most people have found the spacers don't do anything and often stick to the back of the wheel and get moved in a tire rotation.

I agree with Infidel, I had the spacer on my passenger front wheel and every time I braked hard it would pull severely to the right. I took the spacer out, hung it in garage and the truck now stays perfectly straight even in a panic stop situation. For my truck it was more problem than solution.

The brake pull problem is addressed in great detail in TSB 05-03-97/TSB 05-04-99. This TSB is 27 pages long as presented and goes into much detail in how Dodge diagnoses and (hopefully) corrects this problem. The use of shims is addressed at the bottom of page 18 (Item 12) onward.
