Wheel spacer ring on passenger side 98 12v

I just had my tires balanced and noticed a wheel spacer type of thing on the passenger side only. It's a ring that fits over the lugs about 1/4 inch thick. What is this? Is it a factory thing or should I take it off? Stock rims with 285 bfg AT's. Again it's only on the passenger side.

Its a factory thing. I think dodge put it on there to solve a steering pull problem or something like that. Some people take them off with no effects, but id leave it on just to keep things happy.

Leave it on or take it off it makes no difference. Remember where it is though, sometimes they get stuck to the wheel and moved in a tire rotation. Yours many not be where it was originally intended to be.

Cool, Thanks for the replies. Much appreciated. Glad I don't have to worry about it to much.

It was part of the 8 million page TSB on trying to fix the truck when it pulled on brake applications. There was actually 3 different thicknesses of spacers, the thickest required the studs to be replaced to longer ones.

My 1997 has one on the front passenger side also. Thanks for the heads up on them sticking to the wheel on rotations.

My truck did not have a spacer when I purchased it and it didnt need one until I put the leveling kit up front. Now it pulls to the right when braking.

I think your trackbar needs to be longer.

Maybe you could find one at a wrecking yard, but from what Jbody says it would be hard to tell which size you needed.

You are probably correct.
The 2" leveling kit offset the front axle by almost 1 1/4".

Yeah that spacer was a "great" idea... My truck pulled hard to the right when braking until I took it off and set it on a shelf in the shop...

The spacer is a "fix" for the infamous brake pull. I had one, but since upgrading to EGR brakes last fall it has been off. If you take it off expect some serious pulling to the side that it was on. Your previous owner should have told you about that.

Ah GREAT! So THAT is where my other wheel spacer is! I'm looking ALL over my stupid garage, floor, truck, under the truck trying to find the other spacer! Didn't really pay attention to when I was pulling it apart, I just thought to myself "Ain't hard to remember where this goes, just goes behind the wheel"...didn't know til now only one side though. Wish I'd have searched first, I could have saved myself the time of yanking my wheel off to see if I double-spacered it with one being stuck behind the wheel + the loose one I have.

Thanks.
