Ring gear spacer for front axle
Ring gear spacer for front axle
I recieved my front 5.13 gear, it says 9.25 IFS GM, it also says i need a ring gear spacer for it to work on my truck.
My question is how thick is this spacer and why do we need this and GM doesnt?

Nick,
You can get the spacer from www.ringpinion.com

CQ, with 42 inch swampers his lane could be either the median or ditch and he'd be at your eyelevel.
Order the part on the credit card, measure it then send it back...might cost you a 15% stocking fee. ks

There has got to be a REAL r&p available for our trucks that doen't use a spacer....r&p's with spacers are generally cross referenced part #'s and are usually much weaker.
The GM has a different carrier which places the ring gear mounting surface closer to the pinion axis allowing for a thinner (less rotating mass) ring gear along with being able to handle LESS torque as a thinner ring gear will be more suseptable to deflection/distortion.
If you plan on lighting those 42's off with a 1000+ft/lbs CTD in the mud then I would seriously consider other options....i went through 3 spaced rings in the back of one of my yotas when i had 35"s and a spool...then i got a solid one from Randy's R&P and have been running it for 2 years now without problems and it is now pushing 39.5" iroks....
