Thumbs down Water leaking in back of cab!!??

I got up this morning after the rain to the rear of the cab full of water.. Tomorrow I'm gonna search out the leak, possible from the 3rd brake light, but also could be from rear window. The truck should have been totaled after the p.o. had the trailer come around and hit the left side, the cab door was crushed along with the bed and cab floor. My question is, what holds the rear window in? Is it poly-urathane(sp) or does it gasket in? Thanks...

I believe there is a gasket on the '96 trucks. I checked my '97 parts breakdown and it does list a seal part number for the rear glass. The newer 2nd Gen trucks use silicone in a tube instead of the seal.

Third blake light gasket is usually the winner in this scenario, however the previous damage may play in as well.
Get in it and have a friend hit it with the hose to be sure.

3rd brake light opening gasket, and window gasket- when I got mine everyone was recommending sealing the brake light and top of the window gasket with silicone sealant. I did both, and tho I had to replace a bulb in the brake light, no leaks here.

I also had a water leak in the back seat.I searched it on this forum and came up with the 3rd brake light or the rear window.I sealed them both with silicon sealant.no more leaks.

Water Leaking in back of cab.

Just to add my experience. Yes it was my third brake light gasket. I just used silicon and that corrected the leak. Keith

I made a gasket for the 3rd brake light, that slowed it down. I think it is more on the pass. side, I think I'll silicone the window next. Thanks for the replies, I'll let y'all know what finally gets it.

3rd Brake Light gasket

I have a gasket that can stop this leak !!
The problem is the factory gasket shrinks over time .. DO NOT USE SILICONE !!! If you do and try to remove it later , it would most likely break!!! The dealer wants $80-95.00 for the replacement light with attched new gasket .. Search ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/320985630233...84.m1555.l2649
