Warranty Work
Does anyone know if DC reinburses the local dealers for warranty work or do they just cover the parts?<br><br>Me and a guy at work were talking about Furd and their dealers and he says Furd only pays for the parts and the labor is at the dealer's cost.
<br><br>I was curious if DC did the same thing, or if they actually pay the dealer for the labor as well as covering the parts.<br><br>I know this could probeble account for some of the poor warranty work some people have had done if DC doesn't pay the dealer for the labor.
I know I wouldn't want my machanic wasting his time on a job I'm not getting payed for, when I've got paying jobs that need to be done.<br><br>Just thought some of you guys and gal might know what DC does about the warranty work. :P<br><br>DB

They get a flat rated labor returned...its a lower labor rate then the customer would have to pay...I think at lease thats the way it use to be.

Well I did find out today. I stoped at the dealer to pick up my new shifter **** (log story) and asked the service manager and he said they get a flat pay rate which is about 3/4 of the normal hourly rate.

I would imagine they get some sort of set rate. If you look at the TSBs, they have this at the bottom:<br><br>Policy: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty. <br><br>Time Allowance: <br>Labor Operation No: 09-85-05-91. Since i am a DC.Tech at the dealer i guess i am qualified to answer this one. Yes DC reimburses the dealership for parts and labor for warranty claims based on a flat rate schedule.Warranty times are based on time studies performed on these vehicles when they are designed.The times are about 1/3-1/2 of actual or cust pay times because when the time studies are performed it is under perfect conditions. All special tools,info vehicle in shop etc. ready to go. avg is taken after doing the op 3X. If a tech is performing a op for the first time it may take longer than the time given,or if you have done several,you may be able to beat the time. But keep this in mind the time does not take into consideration lost time from tying up a bay due to waiting for parts,clearing veh. off if snowed on,pushing no starts in the shop,most diagnostics and any thing else you could propably think of that does't have to do with actually removing the part. It is kind of like negoiating your paycheck on a daily basis. DC may or may not pay a warranty claim, and if the paper work is not correct,can deny the claim.
