Warranty on Warranty work?

What length of warranty do you get on a part that was replaced under warranty? The dealership rebuilt my tranny under warranty when I had about 34K mi.. What type of warranty do I get on the rebuild? TIA

The warranty is whatever the factory warranty is on the vehicle. There is no added warranty on any parts installed under warranty. If you had a transmission rebuilt or installed at 2 years, 364 days and 35,999 miles. The warranty would be up the next day, or 1 mile later. I think the policy sucks too, but that is how it is. The dealership has the ability ( unless they have abused it in the past) to overide warranty up to 1 year and 12,000 miles after the factory warranty expires though.

Thanks, I could be wrong LFD, but that's how it worked when I was there. You can always call to be sure. Most times , like I said, with having work done close to the end of warranty, they will stand behind it to a certain degree as long as they haven't abused the priveledge in the past.

That's what my dealer did when they rebuilt the tranny on my 04.5. They gave me 12 months/12k miles on JUST the rebuilt tranny which took it over the basic 100k mile drivetrain warranty on the truck.

Sorry, on my 04.5 I got the extended warranty which was bumper-to-bumper to 100k miles, plus 28 free oil & oil filter changes. (No offer like that on the 07.5) Anyway, the point was, the rebuilt tranny got a 12 month/12k mile warranty over and above what ever warranty was left on the truck.
