have been getting a **!tload of water in passenger side floor board. right now i have a full size bath towel folded up in the floor and i can ring about what seems like a quart out of it everytime i stop. usually a 20 minute minimum drivetime. im positive its my ac due to a lack of rain when it does it. however im a bit perplexed because my drain is clear and i do not see a drip anywhere. anyone ran into this before

 

Is it water, or does it smell like antifreeze?

Try a little water squirted up into your drain, followed by some compressed air. Don't go crazy...

 

Take a small piece of hose and attach it over the a/c evaporator drain. You'll find a small hose sticking out of the passenger side firewall down below the turbo. When driving it's possible for the condensate to run back down the hose to the inside.

 

Drip hose is clogged (as long as its not antifreeze), agree with above blow in the tube and free it up, then attach a longer hose with 90* to lower the drain down.

 

it is most definitely water. what gets me is why cant i find a drip. is it coming in by the drain going down the floor board and coming up thru the carpet? hadnt thot of adding a hose.... ive already checked to see if its clear. with air and also put a bore scope in it to see if i cud find an obstruction

I've had the same problem for a couple years on my '98. Can't find an obstruction. had thought of the 90 degree thing . I'm gonna try it!

 

Make sure your third brake light gasket is good. If its not antifreeze or a/c condensation, you have a leaking HMSL (high mounted stop lamp) gasket.

 

Been having the same trouble on wife's 98.5 2500. Placed a hose on it this afternoon. It must have running back inside from the drain. Drove the truck for about 5 miles and when I returned home water was dripping out of the hose. Before I installed the hose, it wouldn't drip. Going to roll the carpet back and put a fan on to dry it. Do believe the problem is fixed.

 

well the towel i have on my floor is drinking up the water out of the floor so my floor is REALLY clean and only slightly damp. and if its the HMSL gasket wud it run to both side or just one? i wud think behind my seat wud be wet. never the less a good thot to keep in mind for the future

 

The HMSL gasket would only be reflected when raining or after going thru the car wash.

The a/c condensate will actually drip/blow and run back inside the cab down the existing factory short tube. By extending it 90* it will run out like it should.

 

I have had this problem too, I had the HMSL fixed and still got water on the pass. side front and rear floor boards. I was even getting it in the winter. I haven't tried the A/C tube extention, but I also haven't had the water on the floor boards lately and the A/C is running everyday.

 

For some reason the third brake light leak seems to always show up on the passenger side floor according to all the posts I have read on it.

 

My passenger floor was soaked for months. I found some heater hose in the garage (about 8 inches), got a clamp, put it on the little condensation outlet tube at the firewall. I made the hose bend some so the end of it now sits on the frame just aft of the wheel well. I works great. When I stop some where TONS of water condensation drips out of the hose to the ground. I think before this water was getting blown back into the firewall rather than being discharged to the ground.
