Talking sway bar gone

Well sway bar links were pretty much disintegrated and squeaky so I figured id just take the whole sway bar assembly off while waiting for new links. took the truck out for a drive n man does it ride like a caddy my only concern is slightly too much front end dive on sharp fast corners but ill b replacing the shocks with Monroe reflexes all around in a couple weeks n hope that stiffens up a bit. but seriously it rides pretty much like a ifs if I say so myself just thot id share that with those that ride a lot on washed out roads. now I know ill get from guys for running no sway bar and I don't plan on leaving it like that but just saying its pretty sweet. just curious if there was any progress with carli's bar....supposedly he was building one with a little more flex to it so u still had a bar but it would allow a softer ride...anyone have anything to say about that?

That's interesting...So the ride improved,by removing the front stablizer bar...Pretty much my links are shot again..Not a very good design..May try this on my dually and see how it corners..It corners great now...But the rear training wheels help alot..

I lowered my front end a bit on my 4x4..That sure improved ride and steering...

I did the same with my front, but I still have a rear sway bar. Did smoothen out the ride a bit and it doesn't dip at all under normal driving.

For the rear I did eliminate those stupid ball joints on the connecting bars. Just got the shortest poly-bushing straight links at autozone I could, like $10 for a set. Then I just bolted angle brackets to the sway bar and bolted them up, has lasted 5 years now. Every now and then I need to tighten up the angle brackets because I don't have large enough bolts to fill the old ball joint hole. Good luck.

Ride quality definitely went up. gonna build a set of traction bars pretty quick here and hope that'll firm up the sway on the rear end as I don't have a rear sway bar. will c if that helps the front dip. also just installed reflex shox all around tonite will c how ride goes with those tomorrow! the shox that were in there were bad.....

Well I must say the new shox work wonders!! I'm guessing if I ran a stiffer shock like bilstein 5100 in the front the roll would b reduced to a very acceptable level. over all I'm really impressed with the reflexs

Are there any draw backs to removing the sway bar for good? The bushings and links on my truck are way overdo to be changed. So if it doesn't hurt any thing I could just run with out it.

The better ride without the sway bar tells you the spring rate is too stiff. The problem is, trucks need too stiff springs so they work right when loaded down.

Dual rate springs help, but I don't know how many are made for our diesel trucks. I've got the D25 Skyjacker front coils and the ride is nearly as stiff as the stock springs unless the cabover is on or the back is full of heavy stuff.

The purpose of the sway bar is to keep the frame more or less parallel with the road under high side force conditions.

Those usually only occur during emergencies, either unexpected or created (goofing off), but the sway bar could be the difference between a slide and an upset.
