Just curious, did 2nd gens ever come with steering wheel controls for the radio?

 

Mine did, I believe its an SLT Laramie Plus package that started in 2000.

I also seem to remember its clock spring related and may be possible to put in if the prewire package is there... Some had it some did not. I hooked up power heated tow mirrors to my truck thru the factory wiring which was there. I also have a wire loom running up to the roof for cab lights, which is the only option my truck didn't come with.

I think the Sport package was the top p[package for those last years of 2 gens...

 

Mine has it. Part of the premium Infinity sound system. Need an adapter so it will work with my aftermarket head unit though. Not much of an issue considering the head unit is within such easy reach. Unlike my 92 where a remote is mandatory.

 

I have the SLT Laramie and the Infinity system, no no steering wheel controls. I don't mind reaching for the radio, I guess I'm a little spoiled from my wife's vehicle having it.

I'll keep my eye out next time I go to a salvage yard. Thanks for the info guys

 

My 2001 SLT has the steering wheel controls, half the time when I try to change the audio level, it changes the radio station

 

Maybe the clock spring behind the wheel is starting to break and short internally

 

Anyone know whats behind the left hand bump on the dash?

I want to put a light for my fuel system below the left hand vent, below the left hand side of the gauge cluster, on the left hand side of the dash, the fuse block is just around the corner of this spot.

Is there space behind ?

 

Mine has it as well, 1999 SLT Extended Cab, now that i remember im not sure if they work

 

The 'RAZ' radio option (non Infinity) has the plug on the back of the radio for the steering wheel controls ....

 

Yep...my 99 slt has it also. I noticed it when I changed the stereo out and have never used it since the radio is so close.

 

My 01 SLT has them, never knew for the first few years as there not visual until u poke ur head between the dash and wheel..............kim..........
