It is a good product. Read the topic, be aware of the hazards of installing it on an auto truck.

It is easy to install, if you don't run into problems.
The main thing is with an auto trans, DON'T hit it hard to DRIVE in the bushing. If a few light taps don't do it, don't force it.
Read that TDR topic, and look at my photos. I messed up, but I fixed it. You can learn from my mistakes and be done in a couple of hours.
Reply #95 is where this problem first raised it's ugly head.
# 111 is where I fixed it the first time, and has several of photos of the problem and my repair. This is what you DON'T want to have to do. LOL
Mine fit too tight, and when I hammered it in, it collapsed the shifter column. I fixed that, but it was STILL too tight. I finally used dry ice to chill the bushing enough to pry it out (without removing the column), then used some 320 grit sandpaper (I would have used 400 or 600 if I'd had some handy) to hand-fit the bushing so that it would install without the bashing. All is good now.

Prospector tim, Ill have to re read your #111. But breifly what happened on the Auto colomn?
While tapping the bushing in to hard , it popped 2 plastic rivets out that hold the shift tube and then it slid "in" and was out of place? So basicly you lined it back up and used pop revits to replace the original brokin plastic one's?
Sounds like the nylon bushing needs to be tailored to size to fit . Im wondering if that original spring on the end of the column should be maybe cut shorter and reused to hold the bushing from working out.

One thing that's always struck me about my truck is how good the steering is for a 4x4. Especially after driving other HD 4x4 from other makes (F350 was horrendous!).
All I've done for my steering is synthetic fluid and a DT track bar. No play at all, no groan, clunks, or anything like that. No replacement shafts, either.
i'm guessing that they improved the column bushing at some point between when Dbazley's 97 and my 2002 were built.
Anyone know for sure?
