Soot on fender

I'm running a straight 3" exhaust with the stock 3 & 7/8" tip on it. Since I installed my fuel plate I'm getting black soot all over the lower rear fender on that side. Will putting a downturn on this help out at all? Has anyone had any success with any other solutions to this problem (other than stacks, which I'm not interested in)? Thanks

Yes, a turndown will help some. It won't stay perfectly clean but it'll be much better. Unless the truck is white you probably won't notice the soot with the turndown unless you don't wash your truck much.

I tilted my tail pipe down a little more to make most of it go away, but extending the tail pipe away from the truck, and just outside the tire, should help also. That is my plan when I can find a 6" tip for my 5" exhaust.

Stacks will help keep all the soot off the lower end of the truck very well.. instead now I get sooty clumps all over the bed when the condensation rain accumilation gets blasted out.

turndown

Look at the gibson turndown in my gallery. No more soot on the bumper or fender.
