Shutting off the alarm

How does one go about turning off the stock alarm?

I have accidently set it off twice, and both times I tried:
--Pressing every button on the fop
--starting the truck (didn't start)
--unlocked both the passenger and drivers side doors with the key

I finally had to disconnect the batteries, but there must be an easier
way.

Browsed the owners manual and this forum but nothing jumped out
at me.

Any help appreciated for the next time.....

You have to press the panic button on the key chain. I do not know how many times, as I have set it off, and kept pressing the button and it finally quit on like the third or fourth try.

The key fob didn't work? Did it work setting the alarm? If so then you have a defective transmitter. If it doesn't work to either set or or disarm (and you got a good battery) then you need to reprogram. I did it once for mine but the exact steps I forget. I do know I called the dealer service super and he told me how to do it.

The fop works fine, the unlock/lock and panic button all function.

When the alarm was going off I only pressed the panic button twice.
First time made the horn honk at a faster rate, and the second time
made the horn honk at the alarm rate. Next chance I get I'll try pressing
the panic button multiple times.

I don't have the factory alarm, but my sister has it on her Durango.

I'm pretty sure she just pushes unlock twice and the alarm stops.

My sister bought hers used and found out by accident.

She locked the doors with the key fob, as she always does, but the window was down.
Next time she got into the car she just flipped the lock up through the window, then opened the door.
Alarm went off.

I think I have it mine, there is small red led in the overhead console....I purchased used as well, and don't have the original sticker.

I think mine has a factory alarm. I bought mine used. I have the red led module above the parking brake release handle. On the underside of it there is a button. On mine if the alarm goes off I have to get in and put the key in the ignition and turn it to ON. Then i have to push that button and the alarm shuts off.

That doesn't sound like the factory alaram to me.
My alarm is the factory one...no under dash button to press, the LED is on the overhead console just above the rearview mirror.
I'll check my owners manual for the correct shutoff button on the fob, but usually when mine goes off, I've pressed the panic button, or if I didn't have the fob with me, I'd lock/un-lock the doors with the power lock switch.
