Sagging drivers door

I like many of you have the sagging drivers door problem and was wondering if the top hinge could be replaced with the door left on the truck? My plan is to support the door with a floor jack from underneth and from the ceiling of the garage with suitable strap through the open window and replace just the top hinge. Can I just swap out the hinge with no adjustments afterwards? Can it be that simple or am I missing something?

Thanks.

That worked for me on my 93. Jack underneith and strap through window attached to rafters in garage. I pulled hinge off and replaced pin and bushing. Pin kit was less than $10 from NAPA. Wasn't too big a job. Not sure of difference on 98.

If you can find the right pins,

id say go for it. ALthough i did try Napa, o reily, advance, autozone and the local store, i had no luck in finding them. I wound up replacing both of the hinges on my driver side door.

If you holes where the pins go are elongated, you might have to remove them, weld, and redo the holes if you wanna go with the old ones to reuse. I found it much easier to just replace them...

Here is a thread that mentions using pins from Autozone from a late 90's model S10.

i had a 78 that ate door hinge pins. After changing them a number of times i used a hardened valve stem and presto "last time" i ever replaced them.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but the plan is to replace the whole hinge rather then mess with the pins and bushings. I guess what I'm asking is, if the door is properly supported can I just replace the hinge and not have to worry about having to realign the door after installation?
Thanks.

I have just realigned both my doors replacing one hinge on the drivers side. I'm kinda short so to get at the inside bolt on the upper hinge I had to be lay on the floor and that seemed to be enough movement to mess up the door alignment. Maybe if you where to block under the frame to take the supension movement out it would be easier. But once you can get at the upper inside hinge bolts it really is pretty easy to align the doors.

U can do that,

i realigned mine myself using a rope hoist, a jack, and my tools per say. not that hard to to, just kind of tedious due to having to get the cracks right and what not. But it can be done..
