ss lines work better than regular???
i did not know this, i thought the reason for this upgrade was durability and longevity. . .
i guess it's both - any more reasons to upgrade?
does it work better because of less 'elesticity' in the lines (ss is harder therefore provides more pressure)???
im all ears.

I thought going to Dot 4 fluid involved flushing every last drop of Dot 3 from the system or there would be compatibility problems.
Seems like a big hassle to me with little return.
Could be wrong though...

Im pretty sure you dont have to get it all out. I beleive the only difference between the Dot 3 and Dot 4 is the boiling points. Dot 3 and Dot 4 have the same base oil just with Dot 4 having some additives. If it was Dot 5 I beleive you need to flush every last drop out since is has a different base oil than Dot 3 and Dot 4.

ya I think its dot 5 that has different formula and supposedly gels up if mixed with dot 4 or dot 3.
I just did some research and there is 5.1 that is glycol based (just like dot 3&4) which can be used with them obviously.

DOT 5 fluid is synthetic and is not compatible with organic based fluids (DOT 3 or DOT 4).
There is a DOT 5.1 which is organic based and shares compatibility with DOT 3 and DOT 4.
Synthetic fluids will not eat paint like organic fluid. However, it will hold air at the microscopic level that organic fliud does not. Also, synthetic fluid does not attract and hold moisture like organics either.
I think DOT 5.1 is a great alternative to DOT 5.

Bringing up an older thread here, is there somewhere else besides EGR Brake to get those lines? The EGR brake lines are very nice, but i don't feel like spending $200 on new brake lines. Thanks!
I found this kit here: http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resul...rand=Goodridge
but it says for 4wheel ABS only?
