Replace cracked dash
Replace cracked dash
I have given up hoping it would become a recall based on a safety stand point ( airbag propelling bits of plastic like bullets ) and I have decided I would have to replace it myself .
Can anyone who has done it give any hints or tips on how to make this go smoothly ?
Thanks

LMC is a great source for a new dash. I replaced mine through them.
Two things you should also get at the same time are the the re-enforcement washers and the plastic blocks that are on the firewall where the dash screws in to.
Truck Parts and Truck Accessories
I haven't found a good souce for the anchor nut. I made my own

But this might work
Chrysler Cowl Screen Nut #8 Screw Size
First unbolt the steering column, then remove all the screws by the windshield into the firewall, then there is a bolt on each side of the dash(by the Ebrake pedal) and the pivot in the center of the dash now the whole thing will tilt forward. Then you have to play contortionist to remove the screws that hold the dash to some supports, They are facing backwards and just under the front lip of the dash. Mine were simple since the only pieces that were still on the truck were where the screws held them in.

help
actually just watched car fix where they showed this. you need to drop the pass. side air bag. there are 4 bolts behind that. and also the say u need to drop the steering column because there are screws that are facing backwards from the very front by the windshield, so after droping the steering column the whole dash will roll forward to let u access these bolts..
Also don't forget to discount batterys when screwing with the airbag. wouldn't want that to go off.

Seems like I saw those somewhere .. Maybe LMC or it may have been Geno`s Garage . It may have even been in a post I read somewhere , so I guess I`m not much help . Sorry
