Removing glass from mirrors

A thin narrow putty knife pushed straight in is how I removed mine, but don't "pry" them or they will break.

When I wanted the "objects are closer" fun house mirror replaced in my power mirror with a real one the guy at the auto glass shop just hit it with a wrench.
Broke in a million pieces, he said that was the easiest way.

I had a tour bus in DC decide he wanted to share the lane I was in, knocking the glass out of my driver's side mirror........along with the mirror housing.
