Glass falling off OEM towing mirrors
Hi All!
Installed the OEM gen 2 mirrors on my 99 in 2002. This spring I found the glass falling off on both sides, both the mains and the corner mirrors. Found double sided tape on the back of them was dried out and what looked like hot melt glue on the backing plates. Also, adjusters were stiff as a board...had to apply oil lube to the adjusting mechanisms to even get them to move. Anyone had this problem and what was the best solution?
TIA
Fred

I reciently had to replace the pass side glass in my tow mirrors and had stiff adjustments as you described. I replaced the 2 sided tape with glass adheasive from the glass shop and had them cut me a new mirror for the pass side. He lent me some silicone grease for window sliders to place in the cup socket of both mirrors. He replaced both mirrors glass and removed and reglued the smaller mirrors. I can now adjust my mirrors and not worry about them falling out. Total cost for 1 new mirror, reglueing small mirrors. remove and reglue drivers mirror, lube ball sockets, 19 Bucks.
