Flip up towing mirrors glass replacement

I upgraded my 98 to the manual flip up towing mirrors (82206157 - now $270 a pair). The right side glass and backing plate got broken by a careless parker. (they did leave their contact so that they can pay for damages). The local glass shop said there was nothing they could do since the backing plate was broken.

A call to Dodge has found that these mirrors don't have a replacement glass available. I had the counter guy check in later years and he did find that the 2007 flip up manual towing mirrors do. (Part number 5161008AA - rightside $77)

Has anyone had experience with these? Will this 2007 replacement glass/backing plate fit in my mirrors? He is ordering it in so that I can take a look at matching them up, but I figure someone here has already run into this.

Unbelievably, the counter guy said it was cheaper for me to get a pair of mirrors as opposed to a single replacement mirror if it came to that end!!

Let me know. If not, I will let you know when I match them up....

Interested in this. Had mine smashed out on my dually, along with several other cars down the street. I don't really want to put the old small mirrors back on.

tate - if you want to order some mirrors from fenderworld, we could possibly split the shipping cost . . .
