refilling refrigerant

I need to refill my refrigerant, it's getting pretty hot and I turn A/C on without any cold air coming out. Even on full A/C it's not getting any cold air. Where is refill valve. I'm going to buy kit from Harbor Freight or schucks and refill it myself. Would one bottle suffice?

I asked the same question since the 2500 CTD is our first. It is behind the air cleaner on our 98...on the driver side of the air box.

Also, the 01 FSM is at pdftown. It took one can for my 00 but I had some cooling. I bought locally & used the store's can tap. No point in waiting on delivery. It is HOT outside.

Avoid the stuff with stop leak. It will contaminate your system and many shops will refuse to work on it.

My 02 has been through 3 evaporator coils & 1 hi presurre switch, all but the last under the 7 year extended warranty, the best option I bought. The QC on these AC's leaves something to be desired, but you can not live without it in the South.
If it leaks a lot, you will eventually need to find a decent AC shop. Maybe you can make it though the summer and start saving for next year.

high pressure switch

Just out of curiosity, what were the symtoms of your system when you replaced your high pressure switch.

Like most other AC problems, it leaked out it's r134 and would not cool. I guess it came apart, to some degree. ($500 repair at the dealer). Would leak out a can fairly quickly. I have had mostly Nissan cars & trucks and outside of needing a new compressor at 10 years and 120k, have had no issues, I had a 93 Dodge Grand Caravan, also had AC issues with it. Perhaps some people have done OK with Chrysler AC, but not me. The 93 also had a torque converter go south at 25k. I think historicly, AC and auto trannys have been Chryslers weak points.
