I thought I heard somewhere that the valve lash should checked or reset or " run the overhead" whatever you want to call it.... after the 1st 100,000miles. My truck runs good, but the fuel mileage could be better. I just thought it wouldn't be a bad idea this spring when it gets warmer. What do you guys think??

I'm looking to find the procedure to do this. I don't know if these engines have step timing with the A, B, and C marks or what??? I'm a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic but I've never run an overhead on one of these...

The only bad thing about that article does not have pictures. Check out my gallery for pictures I took when I "ran the overhead". I put real good description with each picture.

There are no A B or C marks on our engines. After you unscrew the crankcase vent you use a mirror and line up a mark on the injection pump drive gear with either the TDC or BDC mark. Looks like this :
