syn. oil & setting valves
syn. oil & setting valves
I have a Dodge 2000 1-ton diesel. We pull a 30' 5th wheel approx. 2 months of the year. The rest is normal driving. Would it be in my best interest with 117,000 miles to go to syn. engine oil from Rotella? Second question: how do I know it is time to have the valves adusted? Thanks from a first time diesel owner.
The manual states that you need the valves done at 150,000 miles but it's probably a good idea to go ahead and do them. As far as the synthetic goes, I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to spend the extra money then that's fine and dandy but your not gonna hurt anything by sticking with rotella.
If you're going to run a synthetic, I'd go for something else besides Rotella. The added benefit seems to be less than the added cost.
I'd either go with a big dollar syn (like Delvac 1 or Truck &SUV) or stick with Dino.
My truck like Delo 400 and Delvac 1300 Super-- but LOVES Redline oils (it better for $8/qt!)
