The valve adjustment is a cake walk. Get yourself a straight set of feeler gauges as they are easier to work with on the rear cylanders. Also roll the #6 valve cover towards the passenger side to remove. If you do it right it will come right off of the truck. Otherwise you will scratch your head for 15 minutes going what the heck. I think the first time took about half an hour. You might want to go ahead and replace the valve cover gaskets while you are in there. I think it was easier to do the valves on the cummins than an old small block chevy. Take your time and have fun.
I got an email from Piers Diesel a while back, giving the steps to adjusting valves using the reverse rotation process (using the alternator nut to turn the engine). If anyone needs this you can PM me.
