Parking Brake Help...
There is an adjustment in both the parking brake cable itself and also the internal adjustment on each wheel.
I would open the brakes up and do an internal adjustment to take up as much slack as possible then adjust the cable as necessary if needed.
You don't mention if you have discs or not, I'm assuming you do. It's simple to do just takes a little disassembly.

You could replace them while your in there, but at over 200,000 miles, I'm still on my original factory shoes.
Unless the previous owner drove around with the park brake engaged, they shouldn't really be worn to any great extent unless you have a rear axle seal leaking then that one side would be toast. Even so, a couple of cans of brake cleaner and they are good to go.
Takes about 10 minutes to pop one side apart and take a look, if you need them, replace them, if not adjust them and go for it.

I wish I was as fine, as those who work the pipeline!

The cable under the door is preset and used to adjust the pedal position and feel only. Here is a thread that has diagrams and pictures of the adjuster locations.
