Nah! Twenty years ago, they ran a batch of defective filters that messed up some engines and Cummins rightly turned down warranty. Fram fixed ones brought to their attention and fixed the problem. Their reputation was shot and Cummins made bulletins to only use their filter, Fleetguard, and Chrysler were only ones approved.

I know there's some decent filters that are out there, K&N, Napa Gold, Wix, Mobil 1, just to name a few. I did hear about Cummins only approving their filters but it's no brain riddle, just cause they want to stay in business they want to sell their product.

I will not use a Fram filter. I cut a number of them apart and the quality is lower than most filters.
A friend of mine sells industrial footwear. He has 300k on his 94 that towed a 10k trailer for work and the race trailer on the weekends. He uses nothing but Fram filters.
I got one for the reports from an engine that Allied (Fram) covered the repair bill due to a reported filter failure. The cooling jets were plugged with material comprised of mylar, foil, & adhesive. That is the seal from the top of the oil jug.
I get Fleetguard filters for the same price as the other (previously) approved filters. I think Mopar had to pull the TSB over threat of a lawsuit. BTW, Mopar filter is about double the cost and just a painted Wix.

I still wouldn't use a Fram though, they're cheap.
I used Napa Gold filters (Wix) for most of my two truck's combined 500k but switched to Fleetguard only recently when a friend who sold his CTD gave me a case of them.
