no wait to start light
To the rear and below the driver's side batteries you will see two solenoids attached to the fender. Check that small wires that feed them are connected. They don't attach real well and come off often.
well i got a chance to check it out today. Still no light, but i removed the intake and the grid gets mighty hot. Should i just say screw the light, and always just wait like 15 seconds. Man that thing gets blazin hot
I'd give it 15 to 30 seconds depending on the outside temp at the time. I have a buddy who is a diesel mechanic with a 2001.5, and in the summer, he never even waits for the light to go out. But in the winter here (Northern Lower Michigan) sometimes the light takes up to 30 seconds to go out. If you try to start too soon, it will just start hard, or not at all.
Just watch the volt gauge. When it pops back up to the 12V mark, you are good to go.. As to why it doesn't lite up
I would use a DVM and check the panel feeding the lite to see if you get juice there. Maybe the connection at the bulb is Kaput..

What I did is go to radio shack and bought a 12volt light , then I fished the wire through the firewall and hooked it up to the posative and negative on the grid . and on the other end I drilled a hole right by my overdrive switch and mounted that light ( nice red light ) so now when the power goes to the grid the light will cycle on and off with the manifold heater ....A lot of my friends have commented on how cool it looks cycling on/off during start up , sure gets the looks at the Tim Hortons pick up window when I get a coffee
