I don't post here much guys because i don't own a 2nd gen,but i am looking at a 1997 12 valve. It is 2wd laramie with 350,000 on the clock with banks power pack. Body is in ok shape,but the tranny is having issues. The guy has only had the truck 2 weeks and is tired of it. I can get it for probably $1000 bucks. Is this a waste of money because of the high miles and it being an EGR equipped truck,or should i get it. I will report back more details tomorrow when i go look at it. Thanks....Justin

The last I knew, core charge on the trans was 850 bucks, not to mention what the rest of the Cummins specific stuff is worth.

I know if I had a shot at it for a grand, it would be coming home with me if nothing else to part out.

Depends on your situation though, do you have a place to store it, and will others be complaining about a disassembled truck if you choose to part it out?

Sounds like a good deal. Do you need another truck? It will take your time fixing it.
