mutiple problems
Got a set of mutiple problems started looking for fuel leak and has turned into nightmare, I have replaced both fuel lines from motor to tank (joy filled 4 hours) then thought had oil leak started looking at it realized it was water pump repalced that (not very hard to do) then I thought I would clean the engine off ro see if I did have a leak so I got out the power washer and sprayed everthing in sight. thats when the newest set of problems started I started truck after filling coolant to see if new pump was leaking and noticed that the brake light and abs light were on so I checked to see if e brake was set it was and released it and lights stayed on so i figured I just got something to wet under there till the next morning on way to work I hit the brake pedal at stop sign 3 times and I could hardly push the pedal down then at the next stop just pushed it once and works fine. My cruise control quit working and 4x4 quit light wont light up on dash and I know its not engaging cause I have no vibration in steering wheel like normaly do when engaged. Transmission started to jump in and out of 3rd and 4th gear whenever it wants to. I bought this truck 8 months ago for $8000 had 180000 miles on it then, thought it was a good deal but not so sure now gettin tired of workin on it, but not ready to give up on it yet any advice would be helpful thanks in advance Still have an oil leak somewhere around front af engine I have not found yet.

Sounds like you have a vacuum problem. Cruise control, 4x4 activation and power brakes are all controlled by vacuum. MAyeb you pulled a line off somewhere when you were working on it?? How is your powersteering?? o.k?? or no?

Power steering is fine and everything else works just fine too. just the brakes. The oil leak is not from blowoff I think it might be a seal going bad some where just not sure where to look for sure....

Sounds a heck of a lot like your vacuum pump is bad to me.
Powersteering works independant of vacuum pump. but the run off the same shaft. The oil leak is common of the vac pump. (I have it too)

On my Mom's 1996 Dodge Ram her ABS /BRAKE light came on it was the harness connector on the firewall. It had a dirty connection and cause the light to flicker on/off. Check your connections on everything!
Vacuum pump seals is where your oil leak is going to be...
As for the shifting in and out of 3rd and 4th gears... I would look into the wiring again...

Power steering is hydraulic, shouldn't be affected. Your brakes are vaccum assist, your front axle is engaged with a vaccum actuator, cruise uses a vaccum actuator also when you use it. If you lose vaccum you will lose all of that. You may have also lost vent control. I know on the 24V if you lose vaccum you will also lose vent control, and the A/C and heater will blow air only out of the defrost vents, even if the selector is set to something else.
I just noticed in your original post that you pressure washed your engine. You have to be real careful when you do that. I am willing to bet that you blasted a vaccum line off of a port or severed a vaccum line.
Same thing with your brake warning lights. I am fairly sure you got water in some of the connections. You should open them and dry them out.

Thanks for all your help guys you guys are just full of great info--found a vacum line that was disconnected pluged it back together and everything but the shifting problem and oil leak were fixed, I think my TPS sensor is going bad causing it to shift wierd. The oil leak is on front of engine somewhere I find it yet.
Oil leak, front of the engine, on a 12 valve. I hope its not the KDP (killer dowel pin). Its a pin inside the front gear case that can works its way loose and fall into the gears underneath. That is bad. Sometimes it causes an oil leak. Lots of info here on that, just do a search.
A cool way to find an oil leak is to clean the area you suspect where the leak is at. After it is dry, coat the area in baby powder. Run the engine for a while, shut her down and look at the powder. You will most likely see a dark trail against the white powder. Real easy to spot leaks that way.
I can't help you on the tranny. Yours isn't computer controlled lik the 24 valve trucks are. Only thing I can suggest is check the fluid, and change it and the filter if needed.

The TPS determines WHEN the tranny shifts between gears. I don't think it controls the lockup clutches. That gets controlled by the O/D lockout switch on the dash and is actuated by the tranny, not a computer. the 98.5 and up got the computer controlled tranny.
The TPS in a RH tranny normally blocks lockup when the throttle position is too low or high. Gear shifting is determined by vehicle speed.
When it's not functioning correctly due to a bad TPS or a dirty signal it can cause no lockup or a hunting on/off lockup.
